We develop the sensors with our own engineering knowledge. In this way, we can assure their quality and we know the measurements are accurate. This allows them to be fully utilised in combination with our full line of in-house developed Dräger gas detectors.

Durable and resistant against sensor poisons
Hydrogen sulphide and silicone are known catalytic poisons that may be present in environments where explosive gases can develop. Thanks to a new pellistor composition, the sensors are highly resistant to poisoning from these substances. The sensors are also lead-free and thereby adhere to Directive 2002/95/EG (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). The high resistance to poisoning leads to extraordinarily stability over the long-term and that ensures low operational costs.

Vapour sensitivity
Unknown gas hazards and higher hydrocarbons pose a particular challenge to the display sensitivity of catalytic sensors. The new CatEx PR sensors distinguish themselves through their sensitivity. The detection of all hydrocarbons (from methane to nonane) has been certified in a measurement performance certificate for the device series X-am® 1/2/5000, X-am 7000 and X-am 8000.

Rapid response times
A rapid warning for explosive gases and vapours is vital. The CatEx PR sensors' fast response times minimise the timespan between danger and warning.

From the LEL to 100 vol. %
Our catalytic sensors are suitable for measurements from the lower explosion limit to 100 vol. %.

Dräger has developed miniature electrochemical sensors specially for the Dräger Pac®, X-am® 1/2/5 and X-am® 8000 generation. The sensors detect many different gases and vapours. They are also very reliable and stable over the long-term, thereby reducing your operating costs.

XXS in size – XXL in performance
Portable gas-detection devices for daily use should be as small, light and robust as possible – but also offer maximum performance. Reason enough for us to reduce the volume and weight of the sensors drastically and develop a miniaturised XXS generation of DrägerSensors. High sensitivity and improved gas selectivity combined with excellent long-term stability and rapid response times ensure that users are alerted quickly and reliably to the presence of hazardous gases, providing more safety at work.

Sensor diversity
In addition to the DrägerSensors XXS H2S, CO and O2, Dräger also offers sensors for hydride, amine and organic vapours. The sensitivity data for more than 12 different gases and vapours stored on the XXS OV sensors make it possible to detect several gas hazards with a single sensor.

Two in one
?The dual sensors combine the special features of two sensors. We are setting new standards for simultaneous testing using a single sensor: simultaneous O2 % by vol. testing and ppm testing for CO or H2S.

Internal development

Drager X-am® Pump $330.00

The Dräger X-am® pump is an external pump for the portable gas detectors Dräger X-am® 2500, 5000, and 5600 – designed for clearance measurement, for example in tanks and shafts. The pump automatically switches on when it is connected to a running X-am® device. The change from pump mode to diffusion mode is fast and easy.

Benefits
Easy to use
?The pump is attached onto the X-am 2500/5000/5600 and fastened with a clip. Pumping starts automatically once pump and running gas detection device are connected. The pump turns off automatically once it is removed from the device. Using the X-am with the pump has no effect on the measuring performance for standard gases.

Charging via USB
?The pump battery can be recharged using the micro USB port. A standard cellphone charger can be used for connecting. The charge status is indicated by an LED on the pump. A full charge requires approximately six hours.

Handy and robust
?The pump’s easily manageable 17.5 cm device height and a weight of only 200 g permit easy carrying and stowage. The Dräger X-am pump is dust and water resistant according to the IP67 protection classification. It performs reliably even at temperatures down to -40 °C. The battery is solid cast to protect against damage due to dropping or impact.

Effective range of measuring results: with explosion protection
?The pump can reach the ambient atmosphere in inaccessible places – up to a distance of 45 m, e.g. in channels, shafts, or tank systems. The pump has been optimised for hoses with a diameter of 3 mm – for fast response times and low power consumption.

The use of the pump in combination with a X-am device ensures you of consistently precise measuring results – even in the most demanding situations. Because the pump has an explosion protection approval for Ex zone 0. In combination with the Dräger X-am 2500/5000/5600, which are likewise approved for Ex zone 0, the X-am pump allows for secure and continuous monitoring of enclosed areas.

Long operating time for long deployments
?The pump is not only highly resilient on the outside but also inside. The battery capacity lasts for three workweeks at 8 measurements per day (i.e. up to 20 hours of continuous operation). Convenient: The operating time of the X-am is not decreased when the pump is in operation. Moreover, the entire pump operating time can be evaluated using CC-vision software.

Data logger
?Pump operating time, charge status, battery warnings, and flow alarm are displayed on the Dräger X-am and stored in the data logger. This makes it possible to display the results of the clearance measurements separate from the evaluations of personal monitoring.

Matrix Display
The X-am 2500 has a large, easy to read, liquid-crystal display. All gas readings are shown simultaneously and resize automatically depending on the number of sensors installed. When a gas alarm occurs, the reading for the sensor in alarm will be highlighted and will alternate with the alarm level indication of A1 or A2.

High Capacity Battery
The Dräger X-am 2500 can operate for more than 12 hours with either alkaline batteries or with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Depending on the requirements, the batteries can be charged either in the workshop or in a vehicle. Operating time without an Ex sensor installed is typically more than 250 hours.

X-Dock Compatibility
The X-am 2500 is compatible with Dräger’s X-dock testing and calibration station. X-dock is Dräger’s new solution for efficient maintenance and comprehensive equipment management. Used for functional testing and complete documentation, X-dock can complete bump tests in 8 to 15 seconds with more than 40% less gas consumption than competitive instruments1. The X-am 2500 is also compatible with the Dräger Bump Test Station.

Long-Lasting, Reliable Sensor Technology
The innovative, catalytic Ex sensor has a high degree of drift stability with a high resistance to silicone and hydrogen sulfide. The sensor boasts an expected service life of more than five years and is extremely sensitive to flammable gases and vapors. Further, the X-am 2500 is approved for measuring from methane to nonane, according to IEC/EN 60079-29-1.

Zone 0 Approved
The Dräger X-am 2500 has Ex approval for zone 0 for user safety in areas subject to explosion hazard. Additionally, it is not sensitive to electromagnetic radiation, e.g. from wireless devices and is water and dust resistant in accordance with protection class IP 67.

Diffusion or pump
An optional external pump with a hose up to 45 m / 147 ft long is available for use in tanks and shafts or when searching for leaks. The switch from diffusion to pump operation can be handled quickly and easily without tools or screws.

Ergonomic and Robust
The Dräger X-am 2500 is comfortably worn thanks to its low weight and ergonomic design and gas can enter the unit from above and from the front—even if the instrument is inside a pocket or if the front gas entry is accidentally covered.

The practical two button control panel and easy menu navigation allow for intuitive operation while the integrated protective rubber coating and sensors not sensitive to shock provide additional safety in case of impacts or vibrations.

Peak value functionality
The X-am 2500 can store the highest gas readings for the Ex and toxic gas sensors and the lowest reading for the O2 sensor. These readings can be easily reset after a gas exposure without having to turn the monitor off and on.
